About Company An Architecture firm carving culture and identity into the landscape through architectural design and research. Founded in Malawi on 6th January 2023 by Architect Jackson Chanje. Muzi is a Blantyre based Architecture firm, interested in creating an architecture of identity. Muzi’s Architecture is heavily influenced by the people, their culture, identity, and values. We seek to create an architecture that is both functional and meaningful, an architecture that stands the test of time. We design with a Purpose, for the People, to create a Future. We believe in a whollistic design approach that seeks to understand the past, caters for the present, and seeks to create a vision for the future. We believe Architecture is the vehicle in which time (past . present . future) collapse. Our memories, lives, and dreams all collapse in Architecture. The Name - Muzi - means Home or Village , but when we think of the word Home or Mudzi, we don’t ask the question to know the person’s geographic location, we ask to know their identity, their culture, and what values they hold. Muzi’s concern lies in the values and identities that have been carved into our Nation, but these are abstract, Muzi’s goals is to carve these ideas into matter, space and time; to collapse past present and future, into these brief ephemeral moments called Architecture. Director's message Muzi is a young architectural practice based in Blantyre CBD. We are eager to grow and to make a difference. Our strengths are that we are new, are not laden with tradition and debt that can weigh many practices down and make it hard for them to operate. Being a young practice also presents a unique challenge in terms of financial capital. This has caused us to invest in unique relationships with peers and freelancers in the industry. Our unique challenge allows us to interact with many architects and designers in our vicinity and abroad in order to achieve quality and innovation in our designs and delivery processes. Our Mission An architectural practice that aims to create architecture that is meaningful and functional Our Vision is to identify, define, and interrogate architecture in Southern Africa through design, design research, writing, and global academic discourse. Director and Architect Jackson Chanje Qualifications: Master of Architecture degree from University of Johannesburg I am an architect and project manager with approximately 8 years of experience in the Construction industry. I have experience with a diverse range of typologies of architectural projects. I believe Architecture is comprised of a series of ephemeral moments that are found in our every day lives, we seek to house these in our spaces as individuals. Having a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the individuals we are designing for, their hopes, dreams and values allows us to create an architecture that is truly meaningful, while in at the same time imagining all that the space could be, or will be. Technical Staff Raisa Fatch Qualifications: Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree from University of Malawi Graduate technical staff with almost 1 year of experience. Concept designs, and visualization We also do architectural research We offer services for research into existing design trends. We also offer building analysis on both functional, social and economic (running) issues. We also manage different teams carrying out the same research. Project feasibility and viability We also offer project feasibility and viability services. Mainly including site investigations and recommendation reports.
