Project Background
A Monochromatic Bachelor's Apartment, the client is a lawyer who's requirement was he needed an open and spacious layout with sufficient storages for all his legal documents and law books.
As a lawyer his aesthetic for design is straightforward, monochromatic, minimalist but functional. This project was given to me after the arhitect's turnover werein I had to improve the layout and furniture selections of the Living Area, Dining Area, Office and Kitchen.
Floor Plan
Since the Architect has already provided the furniture layout my role was to improved the flow of the layout and furnishing selections, such as the sofa, chairs, bar stool, tables, etc.
In this project, it was not necessary for me to provide detailed drawings so I opted for presenting a colored floor plan. also My client finds it hard to visualize with just line drawings so I went with this medium to better communicate the floor plan.
Interior Renderings
The view from the main entryway overlooking the foyer. Since the apartment unit is quite spacious, I was able to zone different areas in an open layout.
As you enter, there's a hanging counter and drawer space that serves as a console table for the Foyer with a full length mirror.
The Dining Area has a capacity of 6 people and using a round table was the most efficient choice.
The dining table is topped with a tempered glass so that any watermarks or food residue will not tamper the beautiful black laquered wooden table.
Asymetric pendant lights were provided to accentuate the dining table and zone the area properly setting it apart from the Living and Kitchen.
A built-in buffet table was also included with a focal art wall to add conversational art pieces and interest in the space.
A glass divider was used to separate the working area office space from the living and dining space yet not compromising the overall aesthetic of the design.
The client is an avid fan of watching movies and documentaries so an Entertainment Cabinet was a must. Beautiful window drapes was also used even for a modern design, helps makes the interior look softer and classy in spite of the bachelor type design and monochromatic direction.
A low-back Modular L-Shaped Sofa was used against the window, so that it won't compromise the beautiful cityscape view below. Even with minimal furniture pieces it makes the living space complete.
Open layout is a great direction to make any space bigger than how it originally is, well-fitted furniture sizes works the best too making everything look scaled.
