Project Background
This terminal design option is assumed to be designed in front of the apron. As per discussion the programs listed in TOR the interior of the terminal will be designed.
The terminal at least has to accommodate two flight passengers in case of emergency. Fire fighting station has to be placed 2 or 3mins. Away from the apron.
Expansion: the terminal and the apron can expand towards the longest sides but expansion rate of passengers report has not been referred

Kombolcha airport is located in kombolcha city, Ethiopia. with coordinates of
11°0640N 39°4330E, currently the airport is giving service for Kombolcha and Dessie.
Kombolcha is a city and woreda in north-central Ethiopia . Located in the Debub Wollo
Zone of the Amhara Region, it has a latitude and longitude of 11°5N 39°44E with an
elevation between 1842 and 1915 meters above sea level. Some guide books describe
Kombolcha as the twin city of Dessie which lies some 13 km to the northwest.

The Ethiopian airports Enterprise (EAE) is established by the directive of the Counsel of
Ministries of the Ethiopian Federal Democratic republic government to develop and
administer airports and also performs any other associated activities to enhance and assure
safe, reliable and efficient air transportation in the country.
The enterprise desired to build a new terminal building at KOMBOLCHA airport that meet
standard airport facilities. Therefore the EAE is looking for competent consulting

Conceptual site development: submit site development plan based on the site
survey and as per the design program [the design program is subject to study
and review].
Conceptual design development: preparation of alternative conceptual
architectural forms which depicts the specific character of the area as well as
the climatic condition and cultural values of the society.

Terminal site plans are composed of three major areas: Public, Flight line, and Service sides
of the building. Each of these areas can be further divided into their functional components.
Terminal main entry point for general access to the facility. Design the main entrance and siteareas to accommodate typical passenger loads. Incorporate accessibility design features, such
as curb cuts, ramps and signs as required by Architectural Barriers Act (ABA). Entry Plaza - A paved area adjacent to the building with direct access to the Pick-Up /DropOff area. Size the area
to accommodate the largest
number of passengers or
personnel expected to arrive
at the terminal simultaneously.
