Project Background
The Bonga Municipality landscape project, located in the Kaffa Zone of southwest Ethiopia, is a visionary initiative to transform the terrain surrounding Bonga City. This project focuses on a long, narrow strip of land in front of a secondary school, integrating the region’s natural riverine landscape. The design aims to enhance the educational environment by providing green spaces for students and the community, promoting sustainability and local biodiversity while honoring Bonga's rich culture
Project Concept
The concept is derived from two main attributes of Kaffa region “Coffee” and “protected biosphere”
As such the coffee is represented by the grain and leaf on top view of the site, whereas the joining lines are derived from ivy.
