Project Background
Looking at the demand for international standard
laboratory in the capital of Ethiopia our clients formed
professionals collective from Switzerland and Ethiopia
and envisioned a company that could be a goodwill
gesture to the diplomatic relation between both
countries. As such, our clients did the feasibility study
for which where this technologically cutting edge
laboratory facility should be located in the city. Bole
was chosen for its centrality and proximity to the
airport.
Project Concept
The design brief was extensive and detailed with international requirements as a bench mark for a diagnostic biomedical and pathological laboratory. Zoning the function was the first approach, through rigors discussions with additional laboratory advisors we arranged the programs on the 600m2 foot print of the rental space. Efficiency of lab workers and activities workflow was the guiding principles of the design. Airflow and consistent room temperatures were crucial for the laboratory machines,
The design thought behind the large reception area is to create a unique atmosphere differing from the standard hospital norm. As such we created a cozy space with wood and stone finishing’s that gives comfort and welcomes patients in a usual way for a laboratory facility. The administrative sections also imitate this visual appearance.
The laboratory utility spaces have a different appearance with all white themed approach for cleanliness.
With state of the art technologies and visually appealing design this laboratory is built to create an everlasting impact on the patients that it serves.
