Project Background
This project is an expansion to an existing hot spring resort. The terrain is all hills with lush forests, the climate is quite cool and oftentimes foggy.
Master Plan Renderings
We actually let landscape design join the design process from the very beginning as they have an even better understanding of the terrain. For example the center valley was actually not a good location for structures as it is a natural watershed, thus we reserved it for a landscaped stream instead.
Exterior Renderings
The structures themselves were placed on the hillside is such a way that they do not obstruct each other and all have a good commading view, facing as close to south as possible. In hindsight a modern Chinese style might have fitted in more with the foggy climate but the trend then did not support such an idea...
