United Units Architects (UUA) is a RIBA chartered practice. Our reputation is founded on our creative design of spaces and forms, attention to details, whilst remaining sensitive to both culture and context.
The practice is characterized by a unique design philosophy summarized as ‘The Spirit of Geometry: An Architectural Principle to Integrate Sensibility and Rationality’. The ‘Sensibility’ describes our intention to establish the spiritual connection between people and architecture ，and consequently make the building a carrier of meaning. The ‘Rationality’ refers to our design approach to integrate building systems into one entity under the guidance of function and aesthetics. The ‘Geometry’, as an intermediate bridge, is utilized to optimize and systematize the perceptual architectural form in order to make the building comply with the logic of industrial production and construction, creating an architectural quality with sensibility and rationality, integrity and detail, humanity and technology.
UUA is engaged in a broad selection of projects, encompassing every aspect of urban, architectural, interior design and product. From small scale installations to large scale industrial parks and master planning, with our experience we are confident to consider all projects. To achieve this we draw on the skills of highly talented team of architects and designers through their own professional experience have acquired extensive knowledge designing advanced, complex and iconic buildings worldwide.
We consider every project not only as a close collaboration between our clients and the design team, but also the consultants and the contractors who will effectively deliver the project. By doing so, we are able to creatively interpret and understand the client’s requirements, examine the feasibility of our design, then carefully control every aspect of construction. The design intent is translated into reality by drawing on this exceptional network of knowledge and experience that embraces every aspect of a building’s design, construction and performance. It is through this ongoing collaboration with an extended network of international consultants, partners, and advisors, that we are able to remain dedicated to providing excellent, professional and creative design solutions for our clients.

Yongzheng Li is the Chief Architect of UUA (United Units Architects) Beijing office, being responsible for the design creation and quality control of the office. He gained his Master’s Degree in Architecture from Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, with commendations for both design and thesis. He joined Foster and Partners in London upon graduating, and was involved in a range of international projects including the new Apple Park in California. Yongzheng is deeply committed to innovation in building technology and details, and he is also interested in how cultural narratives are reflected in building design. Since he cofounded UUA Beijing office in 2012, Yongzheng has continuously combined his personal interest with the practice of the office, and shaped the core design philosophy of UUA.

TIM, following 17 years at the architectural practice of Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, and being a past student of the MSc AAS course (University College London). With 2014 bringing a move to China, Tim now occupies his position as Design Director at UUA Beijing office. His evidence based approach creates architectural design that not only responds to the complexities of local client requirements and user demands, but remains sustainable within the constraints of the rapid transformation of the urban realm. Tim’s experience and knowledge of the architectural industry is both extensive and thorough, as it is through his position at Richard Rogers architects that has facilitated the continued development of his extensive skill set. Furthermore it is this role coupled with recognition of his position as an Associate that has allowed him to continue to make a valuable and recognised contribution to the design process of key projects from this world leading practice’s portfolio of work, projects that include Leadenhall Tower (London), One Hyde Park (London), Las Arenas (Barcelona) and the British Museum (London).
