Ajanta Dube

Growing up in a household strewn with artistic signatures had been
an inspiration since young age. There was always music, a wide
variety of furniture and sculptures collected over the years, from
all the places my parents had traveled to and lived in. We had the
tradition of ‘Movie Weekends’ and it comprised of old black and
white movies. So I could never credit one thing that inspired me to
become a designer. It could have been the marvelous movie sets of
H. Shantaram that peaked my interest in Architecture. It could have
started with imagining the setups in books that built my visualizing
power. Or it could have been early exposure to different architecture
styles owing to my parents having transferable jobs.
I decided to become an architect when I was eleven. When the time
came, I chose MANIT Bhopal to learn the art of architecture, one
of the best institutes in the country. After graduating, I gained more
experience in this field by working for Larsen & Toubro Construction
– Design Cell. Working for this giant conglomerate was an eye
opener, as I gained deeper understanding of how many aspects
of business exist. I worked with a talented multi-disciplinary team
and that taught me to see a problem from a hundred different facets
before coming up with a solution. I did not learn only from the work
culture of our organisation but also from our prestigious clients' work
ethics too. Through my work, I got the opportunity to interact with
teams in Wadhwa Group, Piramal Realty to name a few. And while
I enjoyed working on big projects, I longed to have more control and
driving force in terms of managing a project.
So, I co-founded The Design Charrette (TDC) in 2017, looking for
an opportunity to build something from scratch. And while I have
achieved a lot in these years, I strive to do much more and widen my
horizons to other aspects of architecture too. So in 2020 I started my

own firm, Spacellora Designs - a boutique architectural and interior
design firm, my passion and dream.
Apart from work, I enjoy reading, writing , watching movies, listening
to music, photography (preferential treatment to trees and buildings)
and long nature walks.
I would define my strengths to be Architectural Design, Interior
Styling and Design, Architectural Journalism and Project
Management. I like working on a project from start to finish and a
satisfied client is the best gift any designer can get.
