About natural hardwood cladding
cladding & siding hardwood plank are generally sawn from naturally durable tropical hardwoods such cumaru, teak, Ipe, Merbau,Balau,Iroko etc. While some weak weathering wood like oak, maple, pine etc suits interior use only.
Grade & Moisture Content
All our exterior hardwood cladding is supplied as standard and better grade (not select) and dried to maximum moisture content of 14%. Small tight knots, gum veins, splits, ambrosia and other marks are acceptable features that sometimes occur in boards. Timber is graded in accordance with the international standard with hardwood natural variations.
The moisture content of the timber depends on the relative humidity of the air and also its temperature, which is influenced by the colour of the surface coating. Dark coloured surface coatings absorb more solar energy, resulting in higher temperatures and lower moisture content. If the moisture contents are too low at the time of installation, problems can occur with rebated board profiles if sufficient expansion gaps are not left between the boards.
Durability
The natural durability rating of our hardwood species is a rating of the timber’s natural resistance to attack by wood destroying fungi and wood destroying insects. The natural durability rating applies only to the heartwood of a timber specie with approx above ground durability of 25 year plus.
EXTERNAL CUMARU HARDWOOD CLADDING
Cumaru also known as Brazilian Teak, is the second hardest Brazilian hardwood and a more economical choice for your exterior deck floor or wall cladding than Ipe hardwood decking, while still maintaining premium quality that adorns distinct, rich brown tones, with hues of gold and red that compliment any outdoor space.
Because of its economical price and high durability, Cumaru hardwood decking & cladding is highly suited for major commercial developments and high traffic wood plank. It is also a smart choice for residential wall covering projects because it is resistant to insects, mold, mildew, and decay, with a life expectancy of about 40 years.
Cumaru hardwood cladding's warm hues make for a truly relaxing escape, right in your own backyard. And just imagine: you'll be able to enjoy this beauty for decades to come, thanks to cumaru's natural durability. All you have to do is apply occasional coats of UV repellant to preserve that vibrant color.
